Dear Amigos de Tara:

Greeting from the mountains from Nepal!

Little by little we are saying good bye to the winter, dispite of the chilly morning, the sun warm us softly daily. Life here is simple , basic. We have to go to the fountain for water, warm it up to have a bath, there is no TV neither entertainment at all. Vehicles cannot reach here, so we have the singing of the birds as a company and of coures, the children.

Days in Tara School in Madanpur go positively. Step by step we are building a closer relationship with families, students and discovering their realities, which allow us to find solutions to their dificulties.

Still many of them are not use to go to school daily, so we are trying to let them know about the importance of discipline and constancy. The majority of our students , still have to walk long distances to go to School, so fighting with the laziness that implies is not an easy task. But we trust that with patience and love everyone will understand it. The object of the teachers team is giving a peaceful and happy environment to motivate them to come. We give them once and again our support and worries about everything that happens to them, so they could understand that here they are important.

I feel very happy about the willingness of all the teachers that daily make a big effort to become better themselves and go further than being just a teacher. They are starting to understand and put into practice their qualities as social workers worried about their society. For the first time, yesterday, we gave some soap to the students for them to wash their hands befote eating. That was very exiciting and funny as well. A big revolution for the village!. Children wash themselves in the village´s fountain, so the neightbourghs didn´t wait long to go there and watch the scenary. I guess here they are not so familiar with soap as I could see the kids faces and the black water coming out as they were washing their faces off. I still surprise myself how common things in our western society, here become like a big event. Once again I recall how fortunate I am and cannot less than feeling a deep gratitude to these beings from whom once and again I don´t stop learning.

Thanks to all.

Natalia
