Gonzalo Ayuso for El adelantado (eladelantado.com ) The producer, Marcos Borregón, habitual collaborator for El Adelantado, in the section” Segovia from the outside”, was yesterday very happy with the nomination of his documentary for the next Goya Prizes edition, specially because this is connected to a Project of the NGO Amigos de Tara, to which belongs to since two years ago.
This documental is about the story of a girl in one of the poorest slums in Kolkata, Pilkhana Howra, where Amigos de Tara, develops development projects with the mision of covering the educational, nutricional and sanitary needs of the residents with the most unfavourable conditions.Borregón says this is the result of his last visit to this area in India; where stayed for 2 months filming these children in the school, which at the end were several hours of filming that later in the production and postproduction were focus on Meera Malik, a girl that in spite of the very dificult conditions of her environment, “ is able to keep the hope and her daily basis is not dramatical at all” Borregón explains. Produced by Lapierna Audiovisual, which ownes this segovian who lives in Madrid, the 16 minutes documentary, will be shown on the 15th and 16th of january in The Films Academy and in the Capitol Cinema, together with the rest of the finalist documentaries. It can also be seen in theNGO´s webpage: www.amigosdetara.org In the documentary section there have been selected others such as Harraga, Héroes, no hacen falta alas para volar, and La clase. Borregón says, half joking, that if there´s any segovian in the Film Academy, that would be cool if he/she votes for Soy Meera Malik. On the other hand, the producer trusts that the documentary could be shown also in Segovia, although there has been not enough time yet, “as it´s been very recent and we hardly got on time for the Goya´s Prizes cadidature” In any case, he hopes there World be no problems to show it in any of the Caja Segovia´s halls, entity that colaborates with him in previous ocations.Another posibility is that it could be included in the annual documentary programm of the Cinema Club Studio of the segovian capital. “ My wish is to share with the most number of people this history and the Project that is behind” states the candidate to a Goya from the Academy. The documentary is filmed in 35mm, the Standard format for its exhibition in the comertial cinemas. Amigos de Tara The last month of august, through El Adelantado´s Blog, ‘Desde Madrid ’, Marcos Borregón, talked about the NGO Amigos de Tara and the documentary filmed during november and december of 2007. He was informing already about the success of the trial micro-credits´project in Kolkata´s area and about the Oficial Certificate that credits the NGO as Organitation of Public Use, so all donations can get certificates that can reduce taxes. Other Tara School projects are, a free Primary School that welcomes already more than 200 children from the poorest families, sanitary services for them as well as food for families with 7 to 9 children. |
